Suicide

WHAT TO DO
If someone is displaying suicidal signs…

  • Take it SERIOUSLY!
  • Ask the question, “Are you thinking about suicide?” This will show the person you are concerned about them and will open communication, allowing the person to express their thoughts freely.
  • Listen intently and persuade them to get help. If able, guide them to a local resource such as this webpage.

Warning Signs of Suicide

  • Talking about wanting to die or kill oneself.
  • Sudden change in behavior; happier or calmer.
  • Suicide threats or previous suicide attempts.
  • Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live.
  • Loss of interest in things one cares about.
  • Talking about being trapped or in unbearable pain.
  • Giving things away, such as prized possessions.
  • Purchasing a gun or stockpiling pills.
  • Talking about being a burden to others.
  • Increasing the use of drugs or alcohol.
  • Withdrawn or feeling isolated.
  • Acting anxious or agitated; behaving recklessly.
  • Sleeping too little or too much.
  • Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge.
  • Making arrangements; setting one’s affairs in order.
  • Themes of death or depression in conversation, writing, reading, or art.

Things To Know

A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that doesn’t mean help isn’t wanted.

  • People who take their lives don’t want to die – they want to stop hurting.
  • Suicide prevention starts with recognizing the warning signs and taking them seriously.
  • If you think a friend or family member is considering suicide, you might be afraid to bring up the subject, but talking openly about suicidal thoughts can save a life.

Use the form below to submit winners for activities. After scanning the QR code from the Man Card, the ID, and Name should be pre-filled. Select the activity and the number of points to enter the dude in the drawing!

Participant Details

The fields below should be auto-populated when scanning the QR code on the back of the Man Card. If they are NOT pre-filled you do NOT need to fill them out. Just enter the ID from the Man Card in the field above - we'll figure out the specifics later.

UNCOMMON MAN CARD

Once you check in at the Uncommon Men’s Conference, you will be issued your “MAN CARD,” your key to the event. The front side lists some available activities that earn your team ONE POINT per activity. If you complete at least TEN activities, you will earn FIVE BONUS POINTS for your team. By the way, six different colored cards determine your team for the event. The back of the card has your name, small group number, and meeting location.

Activity Prizes

Each activity has a benchmark that entitles the participant to an entry for a prize drawing. If you meet or exceed the benchmark, the activity leader will scan your Man Card and enter you in the drawing held during the Friday session. You can only win one prize, but more entries give you a better chance of winning. You must be present to win.

Several activities have a Bonus Reward for exceptional performance. The Bonus Reward is three (3) entries for the prize drawing and five (5) bonus points for your team.

Beat The Pastor

Think you are good at golf? Think you are better than RCC’s pastors? Put your money where your mouth is!
